Through a combination of classroom work and practical experience, with alternating periods of attendance at college and Co-op employment at Pratt & Whitney, you'll have opportunities to integrate theory and practice, confirm your career choices and help finance your education.

As part of our Co-op and Intern Programs, you'll benefit from supervised and comprehensive on-the-job training in your field of professional endeavor - and you'll be encouraged to contribute your fresh ideas in an environment that ignites the imagination and brings innovative results. In Connecticut, Co-op students are hired in 2 waves of 6 months each:

            First Wave
            Spring Semester: January-June
            (Accepting applications through November.)

            Second Wave
            Fall Semester: July-December
            (Accepting applications January - May.)

P&W Manufacturing Engineering Development Program (MED)

The Manufacturing Engineering Development Program (MEDP) is an entry-level program, which prepares candidates for a career in the fast-paced, high technology world of aerospace manufacturing. Manufacturing engineering development occurs with classroom training and customized on-the-job assignments. The two-year program provides four six-month, hands-on assignments, which are complemented by more than 600 hours of technical training. The MEDP program is structured to allow for individual development with coaching and mentoring. Upon completion of the MEDP, participants will have a solid base in manufacturing, design for manufacturing, integrated product teams, solid models, manufacturing processes, tooling and fixtures, gages and inspection, machine tool application and methods, CNC, manufacturing quality systems and continuous improvement 'Kaizen' methods. At the conclusion of the development program, graduates will be prepared to assume a full-time assignment as a Manufacturing Engineer in one of Pratt & Whitney's Module Centers.

Candidates should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering/ Technology. Experience in manufacturing is highly desirable.

UTC Financial Leadership Program (FLP)

The United Technologies Financial Leadership Program (FLP) is the premier entry point in United Technologies Corporation for people who have recently earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting or finance. The FLP is a two year rotational training program consisting of four six-month work assignments. Rotational assignments are available in accounting and finance departments throughout Pratt & Whitney, Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis, Sikorsky and United Technologies Corporation Corporate Headquarters.

The FLP originated at Pratt & Whitney and has a strong history of developing successful finance professionals throughout United Technologies Corporation. Building from its proven success at Pratt & Whitney, the FLP is now a United Technologies Corporation-wide program offering opportunities for individuals to experience the various industries of United Technologies Corporation.

A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Candidates should demonstrate high academic standing, excellent analytical and communication skills and leadership in extracurricular activities. Rotations begin in January and July. UTC IT Leadership Program (ITLP)

United Technologies offers the Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) for recent college graduates. This program is designed to give new employees a broad view of the company as well as a diversified work experience. Leadership Program associates rotate through multiple UTC business units over a two-year period. Through these rotations, associates see different sides of the company and get exposure to diverse employment opportunities. MBA Leadership Development Program (LDP)

The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a Pratt & Whitney company-wide program that prepares people for future leadership roles within the company. It is a 24-month program designed to broaden participants' understanding of Pratt & Whitney and refine skills in leadership, project management, problem solving and decision making. Participants rotate through three challenging eight-month assignments anywhere in the company. This unique program will allow you to learn about our company as an organization, providing cross-functional training and exposure to ensure the development of your full leadership potential. Eligible participants must have the following:

  • MBA
  • Five to ten years work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
